About Silver ChikaraTM Tournaments

Over 4 decades ago the founder of NECC Events competed in his first karate tournament…it was in a high school gymnasium with expandable wood bleachers and basketball hoops tucked away.

2 decades after that the same individual competed at a karate tournament while stationed in Okinawa… it was in a base gymnasium with expandable wood bleachers and basketball hoops tucked away.

A decade after that he took his dojo to compete in a tournament… it was in a high school gymnasium with expandable wood bleachers and basketball hoops tucked away.

Today, tournaments are still in high school gymnasiums with expandable bleachers and basketball hoops tucked away. Some have been moved to hotel ballrooms and college gymnasiums; better, but not by much. Why is this the case? Because of efficiency and simplicity and economics. It’s cheap and easy. No more.

Silver Chikara tournaments prioritize quality over quantity, and aesthetics over expediency. No high school gymnasiums or drab hotel conference rooms. Carefully selected venues set the tone for memorable competition. Attendance is limited to ensure quality.

Besides trophies and medals, competition is for the coveted Silver ChikaraTM , a custom, pure sterling silver symbol of focused power. The Silver Chikara is only obtained one way, by earning it through competition. When the trophies are long gone, the Silver ChikaraTM will hold forever intrinsic and sentimental value. Awarded to Grand Champions.
